My all-time favorite athlete, Jimmy Freakin Edmonds, suffered a setback before Spring Training. Edmonds, 40, signed a minor-league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. With the injury, Edmonds does not appear he will be close to being ready for Spring Training with the Cards.
I was so excited the Reds traded for Edmonds last season because I got to see my favorite player, in my favorite teams jersey. If I am Bob Castellini and Walt Jocketty, when Jimmy Freakin Edmonds finally calls it quits, I am calling him and offering a position on the staff.
Jay Bruce was the player who benefited the most with Edmonds on the team. Imagine what he could do with a full year under Edmonds tutalege.
As always, I continue to wish Edmonds the best of luck throughout his career. He was truly an incredible centerfielder and I always tried to model my play after him. Thank you Jimmy and keep up the hard work.
