It has been a tale to two teams in regards to Cincinnati and Xavier. Cincinnati was able to defeat a brutal Depaul team last night, 74-69 at Fifth Third Arena. Cincinnati (16-11, 7-8) was able to rebound from 2 straight heartbreaking Big East losses. The Bearcats were helped by the two players that must step up. Yancy Gates and freshman phenom Lance Stephenson. Gates finally showed up as he put up a career-high 23 points, while Stephenson put up his first career double double, 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bearcats were once again horrific from the free throw line, going 14-32. Cincinnati entered the game as one of the nations worst free throw shooting teams, ranked 315th out of 347. With shooting like that, this team will continue to head nowhere fast.
