Miami Redhawks clinch CCHA regular season title!

With a 3-2 win Friday night and a 10-2 win Saturday night Miami University Redhawks have clinched their 3rd CCHA regular season title.

In game one Jarrod Palmer (Fridley, Minn) tailed 3 points in the 3-2 victory including the game winning goal with 3:23 left to play. While Cody Reichard (Celina, Oh) made 24 saves to earn the victory. In a close back and forth contest Miami showed their resilience to battle through a long tough week after burying their beloved student assistant Tuesday to clinch the regular season title.

In game two Miami wanted to make sure people understood they meant business this year. With the 10-2 route and having 10 players record multiple points in the game, I think they made their point clear. The game wasn't all peachy, however, with 163 total penalty minutes and 3 game ejections along with Miami head coach Enrico Blasi shown the gate early emotions were high. Down side is Miami's Alden Hirschfeld(Sylvania, Oh ) got ejected and will have to miss Friday's contest against University of Nebraska-Omaha. Andy Miele (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mi) lead all scorers with 4 assists on the night. Freshman Reiley Smith (Mimico, Ont ) had two goals and Jarrod Palmer (Fridley, Minn) added 3 more points for a total of 6 on the weekend. Connor Knapp (York, Ny) got the win making 19 stops on 21 shots. Miami improved their conference record to 19-1-4-2 and their overall reord to 22-4-6.

Miami will head back to the friendly confines of the Goggin Ice center at Steve Cady Arena Friday and Saturday against the University of Nebraska-Omaha in a big conference tilt.
