Well it's Monday and the beginning of the work week. I have had time to digest what took place in Oxford, OH over the weekend and the performance Saturday night still leaves me flabbergasted. Miami extended their conference unbeaten streak to 19 games and currently sport an 8 game unbeaten streak while having a record of 7-2-1 in their last 10.
On Saturday night Miami played an emotional game with it being less than 24 hrs after the learned of the traggic passing of Student assistan Brendan Burke. All of that emotion boiled over with a combine 108 penalty minutes and Miami scoring a season high 10 goals in the 10-4 rout of Lake Superior State. Miami got everyone involved Saturday with 9 different goal scorers and 15 of 20 players dressed getting atleast one point. Andy Miele (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.) lead the way with 2 goal and 2 assists, while Connor Knapp (York, N.Y.) made 29 saves and recorded his first assist of the year. Vincent Loverde (Chicago, Ill.) notched his first goal of the year, while 8 other players got atleast 2 points. Tommy Wingles (Wilmette, Ill.) scored his team leading 14th goal of the year and is now tied with Carter Camper (Rockey River, OH) for the team lead in points with 32.
These two wins keep Miami's lock as the #1 team in the nation and leaves them one win away from clinching the regular season conference title and #1 seed in the conference tournament. Miami's next series is at Bowling Green State University next Friday night at 7:05 PM and Saturday night at 5:05 PM.
Check back later for my first installment of brecketoloy hockey style!
