Folks, Cincinnati Bearcats basketball coach Mike Cronin has to go. I was all for giving him a chance, but this is the most talented team that he has had in his tenure, and they lack focus, heart, toughness, desire and effort. Cronin has managed to take a talented team, and made them mediocre. Once again, the Bearcats get blown out in Big East play, losing to Syracuse 71-54. Cronin has failed to have his teams finish the year on a high note.
This team was on the highway to the NCAA tournament until they blew a tire. Now they are headed to either the NIT or the CBI postseason tournaments. Anything less than the NCAA tournament is unacceptable for this Bearcats basketball team. There is no reason this team should not be in the NCAA tournament, and that my friends, falls on Mick's shoulders.
That is why if this team does not finish the year strong, and make the NCAA tournament, the future of Mick Cronin needs to be evaluated. Mick is a great guy, but he is not the kind of coach that will help Cincinnati reach the green pastures, they last saw when Huggins was here. I was happy when Cincinnati hired Mick to coach the team after the departure of coach Andy Kennedy. Unfortunately, he was not able to bring them back to Big East relevance.
